The bulk of the Iraq Study Group report focuses on recommendations for achieving a more stable and secure Iraq. There are 79 recommendations divided, generally, into External Approach (focused outside of Iraq) and Internal Approach (inside Iraq). The report charges that "efforts to implement these external and internal strategies must begin now and must be undertaken in concert with one another."
